I found this site interesting not only does it invlove my own tribe but it’s interesting to learn how other tribes have invested in ranching and farming. The Otoe Missouria tribe originally had the option to become farmers working with cattle, chicken, and other ranching animals in the mid- 1970’s. that lifestyle for the tribal members changed for numerous reasons mostly it was unsuccessful. well todays tribal council have decided to re-invest in ranching and has purchased the 7C (seven clans) land and cattle company which is located near the tribal complex in Red Rock, Okahoma in 2010.
the ranch includes
– 900 acres of grass and cultivated land
– 600 head of cattle
twice a year the cattle go to market and have increased their investment!
